About Us

Rangers working in the South Lakes area. Photography by Ward.

We love the places we get to work in within the Lake District and want to share our experience of the valleys, lakes, hills and mountains with you. We hope to inspire you so you can get the best from your visit to the Lakes.

Our job is to be champions for the great outdoor places that the National Trust looks after. In the Lake District this is one quarter of the whole national park. In any one day, we might be repairing a traditional barn, laying a hedge, creating a new habitat for dragonflies, working with the local community to find new uses for redundant buildings or be halfway up a mountain restoring an ancient pony track for walkers.

If you see us in our red National Trust jackets, please stop and have a chat, we'll be happy to share our local knowledge with you!
