Go on a nature walk at night

Season:Summer
Duration:2 hours or less
Activity:For kids - things to do before you're 11¾

Fell Foot Park at Newby Bridge, Windermere, has loads of bat walks going on this Summer, and so do Acorn Bank near Penrith and Sizergh Castle near Kendal. Who knows what other creatures will be lurking in the dusk…

Take a trusty torch, wrap up in warm clothes and boots or trainers, and you're all set to go (although it's a night walk, pyjamas and slippers should be left at home for this activity!). And of course it's best to find a willing adult to go along with you!

Ranger's tip: Don't flash your torch around too much or stomp around loudly - you'll frighten away the nocturnal critters.
