Further Information

Overall distance: 10km

Overall time: 3 hours

Catch the 11am Gondola sailing on a Saturday from Coniston pier (LA21 8AN) to Lake Bank jetty (45 mins cruise)

  1. From the jetty follow the narrow track up to the road (great picnic stop at Brown Howe by the shore with toilets available here)
  2. Turn right and after 3.5km, you can join the shore footpath when you are half way up the hill at the end of 'Sunny Bank straight'. 3.Ignore any paths taking you away from the lake other than when approaching Coniston Old Hall. After Coniston Old Hall, bear right and then after the second gate as you are heading directly towards the village, bear right on the obvious track taking you to Lake Road.
  3. Turn right and 5 minutes later you could be enjoying a well earned cuppa in the lovely Bluebird Cafe by the pier where you started.
